Went on a short road trip with a friend the other night and the sky was amazing. He was driving and we were in a rush so I didn’t want to ask him to pull over to get some photos of the sunset and clouds so I rolled down the window and pulled out my G11 and took some images while he was driving at about 110 km an hour. I was surprised that I got one image that turned out pretty good. The exposure was 400th of a second f8 ISO 100.
Sunset at 110 km …September 5th, 2010 by Dave PattinsonCranesbill GeraniumAugust 29th, 2010 by Dave PattinsonI took this photo back in July but was trying to figure out the name of it before I uploaded it to my archive and blog. The photo was taken in my mothers front yard and I had emailed her the photo but we couldn’t figure out the name. So the other day I used the Export project as New Library feature in Aperture from my iMac to grab all the images I took that day and then imported them onto my laptop and then went over to my mothers and we looked at the various images and she helped me keyword the names of the flowers we couldn’t figure out. The ease of this process was when I was done I just exported this library from my laptop and then merged the library into the existing library on my iMac and all the keywords were there. Fun photo session….August 19th, 2010 by Dave PattinsonA month ago when I was taking photos of co-workers I had the chance to take shots of someone who really enjoys having her picture taken as I found out during our session. I had taken photos of her throughout the years with my iPhone for fun and also some shots for work purposes. This time I had my 50D and we went outside. What I didn’t realize was that she had taken modeling classes so all I had to do was start taking photos, she knew how to pose and had fun doing it. Here is one of the images from the session. CameraBag…August 15th, 2010 by Dave PattinsonI was out this afternoon and saw some great clouds above me and grabbed my iPhone and then I thought I would try something different and process the image with the CameraBag app that I had on my phone. I selected the fisheye mode and this was the result. Dave’s Eye…new name for blog!!!August 15th, 2010 by Dave Pattinson
Summer didn’t come….August 13th, 2010 by Dave PattinsonIn Calgary, summer didn’t come this year. We’ve had a few days sporadically of nice weather but nothing consistent. It has been a very wet summer with rain forecast most days. I dug back into the archives for a photo of an Indian Paintbrush flower I took back a couple of years ago on a trip into Kananaskas Alberta with some friends. I figured we need something to brighten up the summer. iPhone 4August 5th, 2010 by Dave PattinsonPicked up a new iPhone 4 yesterday and being a photographer thought I would test out the camera as it is a 5.0 megapixel camera now. I had the 3G before and the photos weren’t too bad. The feature I wanted to try on this phone camera was the digital zoom. It worked really well but I found that there is quite a bit of noise in the photo which I guess is to be expected. I’m not planning on using this to replace my G11 but it is handy to have for snapshots at times. PhotoShelter did a blog post recently on the 15 most popular digital point and shoot cameras that professional photographers used. It was interesting that the Apple iPhone was number 2. The number one BTW was the G series by Canon. |
